Habu.TV is Live! Providing Premium IPTV Service to US Expats and Military Living Abroad!

  • Rating: 4 after 2 votes
The wait has been a long one since pre-launch in July 2008, but the guys at Habu.TV have finally done it! I first did this story last year on the new IPTV service provided by the Team at Habu.TV providing US TV Programming via SlingBox Technology to Expats and US Military personnel living abroad and indeed Asia. Habu.TV's goal is to capture a substantial share of the US Expat Markets in Singapore and Hong Kong. "We have a lot of US Citizens living in both places that are basically starving for real US TV Programming." Says Clay Cook, CEO of Habu.TV.

IPTV Singapore, American programming singapore, American TV Singapore, US TV Singapore, US TV Programming Singapore, IPTV Hong Kong, American TV Programming Hong Kong, US TV Hong Kong, US TV Programming Hong Kong, IPTV Middle East, IPTV Saudi Arabia, IPTV Iraq, IPTV Afghanistan, IPTV Europe, IPTV England, IPTV Russia, IPTV Lebanon, IPTV Italy, IPTV Greece, IPTV Germany, IPTV France, IPTV Spain

IPTV in Singapore and Hong Kong...and indeed the world, that provides quality reliable HD programming with over 250 channels of live American programming streaming with 2Mbps guaranteed bandwidth to each Customer's set-top box is here with Habu.TV. Talking with Mr. Clay Cook, the CEO/Chairman of Vision One Global Communications, a full-service communications provider to the the large contingent of US Military and Expats living in Japan, says the road has not been without it's "pot-holes". "We have been through no less than 3 different providers and potential providers of the IPTV services we were searching for to find the absolute finest quality, reliability, and user-friendly solution that meets all the legal requirements in the US for our Constituents here.", says Clay. "One might think that it would be easy to find such a solution...but marrying 2 or 3 parties to ensure that the Customer receives the absolute best service for the best price...and meets all the other criteria mentioned...has been a long and bumpy road."

"The great news for the markets here in Singapore and Hong Kong is that now we have it...and are live. With over 250 channels of quality US TV programming streamed directly to anywhere in the world utilizing SlingBox technology with an actual set-top box solution to your TV and or computer, you can now watch all of your favorite TV shows, dramas, pro-sports, college sports, movies, news, entertainment. Our channel line-up includes: Every HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Netflix, ESPN, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, BET, MTV, digital music radio with every genre, Sci-FI, Discovery, Disney, History, Nat Geo, and so much more!"

I asked Mr. Cook what separates your www.Habu.TV service from the rest of the pack of newly formed IPTV services being offered? "Well, simply put, we have the entire solution, not only the SlingBox streaming to your computer, but we offer the SlingCatcher set-top box decoder using SlingMedia's advanced IPTV network with their proprietary compression that allows for higher quality streaming with lower bandwidth requirements on the Client's viewing end. Legalities are always a major concern; and with our legal team in New York, we believe that we have met all guidelines and criteria based on current laws on the books covering IPTV. The real difference here is that every Customer is simultaneously signed up for an actual cable subscription of their own in the US; so in effect, you are complying with the laws by just "time-shifting" your programming and watching it elswhere. In the country where the Expat will view the service, the local laws aren't infringed upon because we are not broadcasting in that country."

Bandwidth is the main stumbling block that prevents IPTV service in some developing countries in Asia. Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore are all "pretty good", says Clay. "However, there are many Expats and US Government employees living in say Thailand and Phillippines that want our services; and this provides them with the ability to watch their TV as well. All they have to do to test their bandwidth is click for a free demo and download the software to their computer and see for themselves...very easy."

"We are excited about the prospects of approaching the various US Expat and Government agencies in the region and actually showing them working demos with the set-top boxes. We believe that when they see the high-quality of the picture and reliability of the stream with the ability to record or time-shift their programming and watch it later on our hosted DVR's, it will be an easy choice." says Clay.

Indeed I have checked out the site and it is live. Just go to www.Habu.TV and see for yourself what you might be missing. You can contact Habu.TV at their offices in Japan at 81-98-921-7001.

I looked at their website first thing i saw was the $150 a month fee
$150 bucks a month is too much

i bought my own sling box, paid once and don't have to pay again

then i put it at my sons house

i paid for a separate cable dedicated to me so i am not sharing bandwidth with him and his usage.
then i rent my own cable tuner from the cable company with DVR.
another $10 a month
with a cable tuner/DVR and cable modem my service each month is only costing me $40 a month

since i have my own cable modem service separate from my son's
anything i do does not affect his cable modem broad band

This is a fair reply, however my question to you is what package do you have? We are offering the full package from Time Warner, 250 Channels that costs almost $100 on its own without hosting and guaranteed streaming 2Mbps. I would say that $40/month is a little misleading in that you are comparing oranges to apples. Additionally, you are leaving out that your son is paying for a full subscription. "The extra $40 a month" is in addition to the primary line you/your son are paying i.e., not everyone will have that option of piggybacking off of a family member. Then you have reliability. We have a state of the art NOC in NY with 99.999% guaranteed up time.

I would like to also know how clear your picture is? We guarantee 2Mbps streaming to every Customer from our NOC with Bandwidth management system. Our SlingBoxe's are the latest from Time Warner with automatic software/firmware updates and are currently broadcasting at near HD or HQ with the standard service/box with upgradable to HD available and increased bandwidth for our Customers with HD LCD TV's (they only want the best). Most cable modems in the States have between 512Kbps to 10Mbps download speed...but their upload speed (which is what really matters in this case) is usually capped at between 512 and 1Mbps with no guarantees on reliability.

I think for people without relative that they can work with this is an alternative
i am not knocking it
but i get excellent quality and more than i need doing it my way
and its very affordable
but its nice there or options for those that don't have the same ability to connect other ways

no i don't pay any more and its not misleading
there are no hidden cost
the reason i get the great deal
he already has all the TV channel packages at his house including full HD so anyone with a relative that gets a cable TV package they like will have access to all the same channels in that house hold. since i did not want to share his bandwidth on the internet all i had to pay for was another cable modem. which on that end runs 12meg. so i got my own, this way i don.t interfere with his bandwidth and he not with mine. so as i said. the only cost there is the cable modem and the receiver box i rent from the cable TV company which has a built in DVR so it records all my favorite shows and i can remotely control that also through the sling box. as long as the internet at my receiving end is ok i never get a bad image and watch it on a 60 inch plasma. the cost to others and what they get will depend on what package the person in the USA or other place has that they are set up on the transmitting end.

Thanks "D" for clarifying. Like I said, for those who don't have the option of piggybacking off of a relative AND want guaranteed bandwidth from our NOC in NY this is almost the same cost as you. You are paying $40/mo over what your Son is paying for his cable...so probably about the same cost.

Cheers!

Wanted to let other Americans in Hong Kong know: www.a2btv.com, offers you your own satellite TV account (265 channels including 30 movie channels) and NFL Sunday Ticket in Hong Kong! I did a demonstration this weekend and they"re signing me up for my own DirecTV account. very excited to have all the US channels again. You connect to the service over the Internet and it's best to have at least 1Mbps download speeds. I tested out their HD system and it looked amazing on my 42" TV. (You'll probably want 2Mbps download speeds for HD.)

FYI - A2BTV requires a 1 or 2 year minimum contract. Habu.TV doesn't have any contractual clauses...plus we have a 2 week 100% Satisfaction Guarantee! If you are not 100% satisfied with our service within the 2 week period after set-up you can cancel with a full refund. In addition, we are pay as you go service...you can cancel at any time and are not obligated to pay any cancellation fees or contractual minimums for service.

Cheers!
