Just a quick reminder that the No Drive Day changes as of Monday 5 Jan.

As of Monday 5 Jan.

The inside 5th Ring Road ban is as follows:

* Cars with number (license) plates ending with 3 or 8 will banned on Mondays.
* Cars with number (license) plates ending with 4 or 9 will be banned on Tuesdays.
* Cars with number (license) plates ending with 5 or 0 will be banned on Wednesdays.
* Cars with number (license) plates ending with 1 or 6 will be banned on Thursdays.
* Cars with number (license) plates ending with 2 or 7 will be banned on Fridays.

However, I am a little confused by the Source Chinglish.

On the one hand it says that this is valid until 1 Feb 2009. However, they later go on to say "According to the Notice of the General Office of the State Council on the Schedule for Part of Holidays in 2009, during the Spring Festival from January 24, 2009 (Saturday) to February 1, 2009 (Sunday), 9 days in total, no motor vehicle shall be restricted by the regulations of no-driving day by tail plate numbers, provided in the Circular of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government on the Implementation of Traffic Control Measures. "

I understand that clause to mean that during the Spring Festival period the Driving Ban will not be implemented. Therefore, in practice, the above restrictions are valid from Monday 5 January - 24 January and the ban will reinstated (with day change) on Monday 2 February.
